Anniversary Photos at Madison’s Arboretum and Vilas Beach
The photo adventure began with a walk in the woods..
I met up with Barbara and Tina at the UW-Madison Arboretum, a 1,260-acre public natural space in the heart of Madison. We met in a small parking lot at a trail head that would lead us through a beautiful wooded area. This path was new to all of us and we were the only ones in sight, which allowed the peace and calm of the forest to make itself present. After walking a bit down the trail, I guided Barbara and Tina though some fun and intimate poses. Although the woods were quite dark, the evening light shimmered through the trees, creating a magical atmosphere.
As we got back to the parking area I was excited to lead these lovely ladies to our next photo spot. We were at the end of arboretum drive, which gave us the opportunity to safely take photos in the road! We did have a few walkers and one bicyclist pass us during this part of the session but no cars! It was such a great opportunity for these unique images— I had them spin in the road with the big beautiful trees towering overhead. I even had them sit back-to-back on the center line, creating an epic portrait!
The adventure continued with sunset photos at Vilas Park & Beach on Lake Wingra..
As sunset approached we headed to the water at Vilas Park, which is right next to the arboretum. We walked up the shoreline and I found the perfect tree to frame this couple in their lovely white and pale yellow dresses. Their love and connection continued to shine as I led them though some more poses. As the sun set we finished of the evening with their bare feet in the sand. The water at Vilas Beach was surprisingly warm and the ladies were excited to get their dresses wet, run though the water and continue to laugh and smile. I captured a few last incredibly heartfelt images with a romantic lift and some more kisses.
I enjoyed working with these two women so much! It was their first professional photo session as a couple and they loved the experience.
