Anniversary Photos at Madison’s Arboretum and Vilas Beach

Anniversary photo session at the UW-Madison Arboretum and Vilas Park on a beautiful summer night. This adventurous, fun and intimate photoshoot included a walk in the woods, portraits in the middle of a road, a sunset over Lake Wingra and photos in the water at Madison’s Vilas Beach.

The photo adventure began with a walk in the woods..

I met up with Barbara and Tina at the UW-Madison Arboretum, a 1,260-acre public natural space in the heart of Madison. We met in a small parking lot at a trail head that would lead us through a beautiful wooded area. This path was new to all of us and we were the only ones in sight, which allowed the peace and calm of the forest to make itself present. After walking a bit down the trail, I guided Barbara and Tina though some fun and intimate poses. Although the woods were quite dark, the evening light shimmered through the trees, creating a magical atmosphere.

As we got back to the parking area I was excited to lead these lovely ladies to our next photo spot. We were at the end of arboretum drive, which gave us the opportunity to safely take photos in the road! We did have a few walkers and one bicyclist pass us during this part of the session but no cars! It was such a great opportunity for these unique images— I had them spin in the road with the big beautiful trees towering overhead. I even had them sit back-to-back on the center line, creating an epic portrait!

The adventure continued with sunset photos at Vilas Park & Beach on Lake Wingra..

As sunset approached we headed to the water at Vilas Park, which is right next to the arboretum. We walked up the shoreline and I found the perfect tree to frame this couple in their lovely white and pale yellow dresses. Their love and connection continued to shine as I led them though some more poses. As the sun set we finished of the evening with their bare feet in the sand. The water at Vilas Beach was surprisingly warm and the ladies were excited to get their dresses wet, run though the water and continue to laugh and smile. I captured a few last incredibly heartfelt images with a romantic lift and some more kisses.

I enjoyed working with these two women so much! It was their first professional photo session as a couple and they loved the experience.

“Working with Becky was such a wonderful experience! She made us feel completely at ease and guided us throughout the session. The photos turned out absolutely beautiful, we couldn’t be happier!” Barbara & Tina

So many smiles & laughs as I captured their love..

Girlfriends Photo Session

A fun girlfriends photo session with 5 lovely ladies in Madison, WI.

“Because of you I laugh a litter harder, cry a little less, and smile a lot more.” Your girlfriends, the ones you can trust and always have your back; these women make life so much better in endless ways! I really enjoyed capturing images for these five lovely ladies.

We were the only ones in this section of the University of Wisconsin-Madison arboretum on a warm Sunday evening. Goes to show how many natural areas Madison has to offer! I sure am grateful for so many beautiful locations to pick from for my portrait photography sessions.

These ladies graduated a decade ago. We laughed about a re-do on their high school senior photos and took these images. One of my favorite Wisconsin wildflowers, called Dames Rocket, had just popped! Certainly a nice addition to these photos. It was a joy to work with such beautiful young women.

Couples Photo Session at Wisconsin County Park

Perfect lighting on this May evening to capture the love between these two. This couples photo sessions was at a beautiful county park about 20 minutes from Madison near Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is home to 48 state parks and over 600 county parks! This allows so many beautiful options for professional portrait photography. On a warm spring evening in May I captured these images for a couples photo session at a county park in Dane County, about 20 minutes from Madison.

We strolled along a path with a winding stream, a photogenic bridge and stunning trees. This tree framed the couple perfectly as the sun pierced though their kiss creating an enchanting image. But this session was not going to be complete without…

A stroll into the sunset through the corn field. This Wisconsin farm boy knew he wanted a photo with the women he loved in a farm field. How absolutley lovely!
